YES. ANOTHER ONE. Entered this one ages ago before I had any idea what pieces I'd be playing.

WELL. It was only two weeks ago that we actually got the duet music. I had asked James (conductor) if he knew of any pieces for horn and trombone and he said "Uhhh.....not really, but I know this one for horn and tuba!"
Eventually got the music from him and the next time I saw him he was all "LOL, IT'S HARD ISN'T IT!?" Which was just great. If it's hard for him, what's it going to be like for us!

In the end...didn't go so well, we had played it a lot better before = DISAPPOINTMENT D;

CHRSLYB took out 1st and 2nd place though. So yay for them.

LOL THE VERY CLEVER 'ORGANISERS' WERE RLY STUPID. I was due to be performing in two different venues AT EXACTLY THE SAME TIME. Dickheads. I ended up doing my concerto and then being tacked on the end of the solos (I was competitor 2/5).

V HAPPY WITH MY CONCERTO. I played Richard Strauss' Horn Concerto No 1 in Eb. The section time limit was 12 minutes (WHUT? WAY TOO SHORT FOR A ~CONCERTO~) and this was 15. Somehow, through a few cuts I managed to get it down a bit, if not enough. The door-lady was checking her watch and got up and made eye contact w me and I was trying to ESP to her "YES, I'M ALMOST FINISHED! ONLY ONE LINE TO GO PLZ LET ME FINISH!" and maybe she got the message. IDK.

Split some notes but that's what happens when you're not a pro. Accompanist went a little Zanakis school of harmony (crazy) - playing minor things major... but did v good job anyway.

Went over to the other room for solo. Was lame and chose Mozart Concert Rondo.

but then during my cadenza had a brain fade and thought that I was further along than I was and was trying to trill an A thinking about a C and it was TERRIBLE.

What's worse is that I came second to the poofy-haired annoying flugel player BY ONE POINT. ARGHHHHHHHHHH

Unfortunately there weren't any more comedic signs like "JEAN SAYS CLOSE THE DOOR" but P Bongers still amused.

This keyboard is weird... The return key isn't as big as i'm used to.

I'm hungry. I didn't have breakfast and then we went to the Beer Factory and then driving around and then blah blah blah and now it's 5pm and I haven't eaten all day. Ooops
